The two specs that define this device are its 250 square foot coverage area and its Anti-Allergen NanoSeal filtration. Who it fits
Good fit for
You should choose this model if you need purification for a bedroom, home office, or dorm room. The 250 square foot coverage is ideal for small, enclosed spaces. The compact dimensions allow it to sit on a desk or nightstand without taking up much floor space. If you want to see real-time air quality changes via the display, this unit delivers visible results. The ultra-quiet performance and dimmable lights also make it suitable for nurseries or light sleepers who need minimal disturbance while the device runs.
Who should skip it
Skip this option if you need to purify a large living room or open-plan area. The 250 square foot limit means it will not effectively clean larger spaces. You should also look elsewhere if you need a unit with odor-neutralizing scent release, as this model includes a Freshen Your Home cartridge that adds a pleasant scent rather than just neutralizing odors. Additionally, if you require coverage for areas larger than 250 square feet, you will need to purchase multiple units or choose a different Shark model with higher square footage ratings.
Verdict: The Shark HP072PK is a well-suited choice for small rooms where space and real-time air quality visibility are priorities. Its compact footprint and specific filtration claims make it a practical option for bedrooms and offices.

Design and Build Quality
The Shark HP072PK Compact Air Purifier measures 9.21 by 9.21 by 11.6 inches and weighs 4.41 pounds. According to the listing, this compact footprint allows it to fit easily into small rooms. You can place it on a nightstand or desk without taking up much floor space. The unit is available in Pink, which gives it a distinct look for your bedroom or nursery. The small size means it does not dominate a room’s aesthetic.
The device features a control panel that displays real-time air quality, filter life, and fan speed. You can also adjust the lights to be dimmable for minimal sleep interruption. This layout keeps the interface simple and accessible. The display shows the percentage of particles measured, helping you see how the air quality changes. You do not need to guess the status of your air.
The build includes a Debris Defense Protection screen that pulls in large particles like hair and dust. This prevents buildup on the main HEPA filter. You can remove these screens to vacuum, wipe, or rinse them clean. This design choice simplifies maintenance. The NeverChange filtration system is built into the unit, reducing the need for frequent filter replacements. The overall design prioritizes ease of use and compact storage for small living spaces.
Setup and Daily Operation Guide
Setting up the Shark HP072PK is straightforward. The unit arrives ready for immediate use. You simply place the compact device on a flat surface in your room. The listing notes a Debris Defense Protection feature. This system pulls in large particles like hair and dust before they reach the main filter. You can remove these outer screens to clean them. Vacuum, wipe, or rinse the screens to maintain performance. This step helps prevent buildup on the HEPA filter.
Daily use relies on the intuitive control panel. The display shows real-time air quality, filter life, and fan speed. You can also monitor Eco mode status. The CleanSense IQ feature provides visible results. The screen displays a percentage corresponding to particle concentration between PM 1.0 and 10. A higher percentage indicates lower particle concentration in your air. This allows you to see air quality adjustments as they happen.
For nighttime use, the unit offers ultra-quiet performance. You can dim the lights to minimize sleep interruption. The device uses Odor Neutralizer Technology to guard against smells while releasing a pleasant scent. The NeverChange filtration system is designed for long-lasting use. It captures 99.98% of micropollutants. You do not need to replace filters for five years. This setup ensures consistent operation without frequent maintenance or filter swaps for your small space.
Before You Buy This Compact Purifier
This Shark model targets small rooms up to 250 square feet. You should verify your room size matches this limit. The unit uses a NeverChange filter system, which reduces replacement costs over five years. You do not need to buy separate filters for the main HEPA stage. However, you may need to purchase the optional odor neutralizer cartridge separately if you want scent control. Check if your space has strong odors or pet dander. The Debris Defense screen catches large particles, so you should vacuum or rinse it regularly. This maintenance keeps the inner filter clean. Compare this compact unit against larger models if you have open floor plans. It fits well in bedrooms or offices where space is tight. Ensure you have a nearby power outlet. The control panel is simple, so no app setup is required. This makes it a low-maintenance choice for simple air cleaning needs.
