Coway vs Alen Comparison
Room coverage
The Coway Mighty claims coverage for spaces up to 1,748 square feet. It cleans this area in 60 minutes. The Alen BreatheSmart 35i covers up to 1,400 square feet. It circulates air every hour in this range. Coway offers a larger maximum coverage area for very large rooms. Alen focuses on a slightly smaller, yet still substantial, living space. You should choose Coway if you need to treat the biggest open areas. Alen fits well in large bedrooms or offices that do not exceed 1,400 square feet.
Filter grade
Coway uses a standard HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns. This is the industry standard for allergen removal. Alen includes an H13 HEPA filter. This grade captures 99.9% of particles as small as 0.1 microns. The Alen filter targets smaller pollutants like germs and bacteria more aggressively. Coway relies on a four-stage system with a washable pre-filter and deodorization filter. Alen focuses on the higher efficiency of its H13 media. If you want the finest particle capture, Alen has the technical edge.
Filtration stages
Coway features a four-stage filtration system. It combines a washable pre-filter, a deodorization filter, a Bipolar Device, and a HEPA filter. This setup targets odors and volatile organic compounds alongside allergens. The washable pre-filter helps extend the life of the main HEPA filter. Alen lists an H13 HEPA filter and mentions advanced filtration technology. It does not detail multiple distinct filter stages or a separate pre-filter in the provided data. Coway offers a more comprehensive multi-layer approach to air cleaning. You get more components to manage odors and larger particles with Coway.
Sensor feedback
Both units use sensors to monitor air quality. Coway uses a pollution sensor with a brightly colored LED indicator. You can turn off this light for sleeping. Alen uses a SmartSensor that provides color-coded feedback. Blue rings indicate excellent air quality, while purple rings show high particle presence. Alen’s feedback is more descriptive regarding the specific quality level. Coway’s indicator is simpler but functional. Both adjust fan speeds automatically based on these readings. Alen provides slightly more detailed visual information about the air state.
Noise and sleep
Alen emphasizes sleep enhancement. It is proven by SleepScore Labs to enhance sleep. The unit emits pink noise to optimize lower octave frequencies. This is designed for undisturbed rest in bedrooms. Coway mentions an auto mode that adjusts fan speed. It also has an eco mode. However, it does not claim specific sleep studies or pink noise technology. If quiet operation and sleep science are priorities, Alen has the advantage. Coway is practical but lacks the specialized sleep-focused features found in the Alen model.
Choose the right air purifier for you
Large space owners needing wide coverage
The Coway Mighty covers up to 1,748 square feet. This exceeds the Alen BreatheSmart 35i, which handles 1,400 square feet. If you have a large living area or open floor plan, the Coway ensures the entire space is cleaned effectively within an hour. Its wider coverage makes it the better choice for bigger rooms.
Allergy sufferers wanting finer particle capture
The Alen BreatheSmart 35i uses an H13 HEPA filter. This grade captures particles as small as 0.1 micron. The Coway Mighty uses a standard HEPA filter that captures 0.3 micron particles. If you need to remove the tiniest allergens like bacteria and fine dust, the Alen H13 filter offers superior filtration performance for your health.
Sleepers prioritizing quiet operation and noise
The Alen BreatheSmart 35i is designed for sleep enhancement. It emits pink noise to optimize lower octave frequencies. This helps ensure a restful night. While the Coway has a sleep mode, the Alen focuses specifically on acoustic comfort for undisturbed sleep. If you are sensitive to noise at night, the Alen provides a quieter environment.
